After managing clubs and touring most of Australia’s headline acts including John Farnham, John Williamson, Normie Rowe and Martin St James along the east coast of Australia for many years, John joined up with JOHNNY O’KEEFE in the early seventies and became the first personal manager J.O.K. had in his long career. During this time he also managed Dinah Lee and Jade Hurley and set up the show, “The Good Old Days of Rock & Roll”.

After Johnny O’Keefes death, John established his own company specializing in touring overseas artists on concert tours throughout Australia and New Zealand. Some of the artsists he toured at that time were Chuck Berry, The Hollies, Dick Emery, Percy Faith & his Orchestra, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino, The Hues Corporation, George McCrae, Bill Haley & the Comets and Eartha Kitt.

With the formation of Prestige Attractions Pty. Ltd. in 1978, John expanded his involvement in the domestic market extensively. He managed some of the top stars Australia has produced including The Four Kinsmen, Kamahl, Digger Revell, Jade Hurley, Dinah Lee, Tony Worsley, Lester Coombes, Greg Anderson, Digby Richards and Laurel Lea.

A few years later the company name was changed to The John L. Hansen Organisation and then John L. Hansen & Associates Pty. Ltd. to capitalize on the personal reputation and integrity John has earned over the years. The company also booked a number of clubs and hotels throughout Australia and in particular were the sole agents and consultants to the biggest club complex in the Southern Hemisphere – Panthers- Penrith Rugby Leagues Club, for over 30 years.

John also continued to promote overseas tours to Australia and his more recent international shows included Charley Pride, Jeannie C. Riley, Fabian, Tom T. Hall, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Tillotson Billy J. Kramer, The Stylistics, Freddy Fender, Roger Whittaker, Guy Mitchell, Victor Borge, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Don McLean and Glenn Campbell to name a few.

Johns company was involved in marketing television specials, publishing and recording. As well as this they embarked upon an extensive campaign through their numerous contacts in the United States and opened up major markets in that country for their own acts.

The pinnacle of this work was in the late 90’s, when John arranged for his act The Four Kinsmen to headline their own show for a season at a major casino on the strip in Las Vegas, a first for any Australian act..

In addition to promoting live international tours, John also initiated a different concept when he imported from the U.S. and toured around Australia static displays such as K.I.T.T. (the original car from the KNIGHTRIDER T.V. series) and the Batmobile.

There have been many changes in the wants of the public from the time John started a small promotional agency with a friend while studying at the University of Adelaide over forty years ago, to the present years where John L. Hansen & Associates is regarded as one of Australia’s most reputable and efficient agencies.
Two of his key personnel, Office Manager June Stoddart and Tour Co-ordinator Mandy Johnson both worked for John for nearly 30 years. With the assistance of dedicated staff, John can rightfully be proud of his contribution to Australia’s Entertainment Industry.
